All looks like panic to me to get someone in. Anyone. All that’s missing is levy running round Europe on the last day with his wheelbarrow of cash. We have time before the end of the window but could do with someone in ASAP.

panic by who? Reporters as none of their 'itk' has paid off? Or lots of extra names to evoke panic and discussions online by the fanbase?

Like has been stated time and again most transfers happen over a prolonged period so I tend to believe there are a list of targets simultaneously being worked on but rely on other factors.

There appears (understandably) to be a pecking order. We will have identified targets, some of which will be hopeful of a move to a bigger club than us, it's only when this doesn't materialise that we have a chance with that player.

It's also like a line of dominoes, waiting for the first to fall, when it does the rest will start to drop quickly.

Someone earlier made a statement on the lines of:

"Why are we signing squad players, we should be looking at improving the first team, this is just taking us backwards"

Lets be real here, how much would an upgrade on each of the following players cost:

- Kane
- Son
- Dele
- Moura
- Le Celso
- Toby
- Lloris

We have to be smart here and buy players that add to the depth and hope they haven't hit their ceiling, these ideally are younger players in the most, who have the potential to become the master and not the student. We will occasionally buy big but this doesn't guarantee anything.

If we look back at the last five years I believe we've, in general got a stronger and deeper squad than we've had for a long time. Sure there are gaps but they appear to be identified and on the list to fill

Newcastle sign 3 relegated players..... Check the revisionist after-thoughts yesterday.

Apparently Mike Ashley.... Mike Fucking Ashley; the most derided Owner/Chairman in the league is a virtuous example when it comes to recruitment now.

FFS!!!!
Don’t want relegated players but SIGN THAT BRENTFORD BLOKE!!!!
AND MAX AARONS!!!!

We’ve signed two 1st team players this summer, though in Hojbjerg and Doherty. They will play every match they are fit for, for sure. The striker situation clearly is different, but needs sorting ASAP.

Difference is Liverpool went and got their next target done and dusted within 2 days of the Lewis bid not being accepted. We've been after another striker for 15 months. It cost us last season and we now head into 8 games in 18 days yet again with one striker. Agree on Watkins but its not much use the fans being ok with it and the club liking him if a deal isnt done.
Also liverpool are in such a strong position massively due to breaking world record transfer fee's, they can now pull out of transfers if the bidding gets too high & still be a million times better than us. We aren't in that position due to not paying whats required. The solution? Carry on not paying what's required!

FranceFootball reports that Leon Bailey is very likely to leave Bayer Leverkusen as they are looking to bring in a number of replacements.

By the way: Volland left them for Monaco a couple of days ago for just 15m. One year left on his contract, 28 years old. 50 goals in 148 games. How we dont pick up this kind of player, I really don't know.
Cause our scouts spend too much time wanking over midget porn

We used to be a juicy name to chuck in but they stopped for a while. They are starting up again now with a vengeance
Sky Sports formula is Largest fan base(s) x gullability of fans = highest internet traffic

Internet traffic increases advertising revenue which makes people who don't care about any element of truth more money.

Sadly this is why we have to listen to the endless transfer speculation about Many United. There are literally hundreds of players, if not thousands, that have been linked to them in such a way you#d think they'd already signed that never actually did.
It makes our links to re-signing Bale every window seem paltry.

But their fans are easily the most gullible as they haven't woken up to the fact they're not the big deal they think they are anymore. They're not a route to trophies. They're not the only big wage payers. Their stadium and facilities are outdated and biggesy of all, they don't have Fergie.

Once upon a time, going to them was like an English lad getting a call up to England, you rarely said no. Prestige, money, glor was all guaranteed.
Now top 4 isn't let alone a trophy.

All gone very quiet.

Another season without a back up striker would be unforgivable.
33 agrees so far. I bet at least 10 Of those agrees do in fact forgive! Thats what usually happens. Empty words. When kane gets injured for a long time, they say its just bad luck. How were we to know kane would get injured. Truth is the lack of investment means we would be grateful for afobe for a year.

Lots of people believing a spotty teenager on twitter "Football latest 100% true transfer. Net" as a source that is then recycled everywhere.

I remember a similar argument 2 and 3 years ago 'how do we improve our team' and look where that led us. You can always improve. Of your list Lloris and Toby arent the standard they were, there should be some succession planning there. Moura is just average, he doesnt offer nearly enough goals or assists for an attacking player and Dele has had injuries the last 2 years and has dropped a level, he may get it back he may not.

Didnt we want Dybala last summer? I'd also say we went the whole of 15/16 with only Kane but we were lucky as he stayed fit. The fact is Llorente went 15 months ago. We spent last summer, January and another 7 weeks this window supposedly looking and we still don't have one. I just dont see how that can be defended at any level.
That's the point. Some will defend them no matter what. So no point arguing with them in the end.
