Current Spurs 26/27:

ST: Solanke, Richarlison, Lankshear, Scarlett
RW: Kudus, Kulusevski
LW: Odobert, Tel, Moore
CAM: Maddison, Donley, Simons
CM: Gallagher, Bentancur, Sarr, Bergvall, Gray, Devine, Olusesi
CDM:
RB: Porro, Spence
LB: Udogie, Robertson, de Souza
RCB: Romero, Vuskovic, Danso, Dragusin, Phillips
LCB: Van de Ven, Senesi
GK: Vicario, Kinsky, Austin

I at least am feeling good about the bolded bits. Undeniable upgrade in depth from where we were before.
Looking forward to what comes from here- we need RW depth, a LW starter, and a CDM to help us hold the middle.
I think this is more accurate with Deki, Dane and Jamie Donley added, since they are still our players, and Simons taken away because he is not going to be playing next season.
Vicario and Romero seem 99 per cent certain to be out the door.
There are others where a decision will have to be taken about what to do next ... Veliz, Takai, Yang, Solomon, Dorrington. I can't see any of those joining the first team squad for next season though.
Then there are the U18 lads who have already seen first team minutes ... Byfield, Williams-Barnett.

De Zerbi has a lot of decisions to make!!

I'd like to see something s bit different from us this summer.

Not a £70-£80m striker again.

Let's shop for a tried and tested forward who's done it for years who can be picked up for free/very cheap and lead the line for a year.
Pay them what they want for a 1+1 year contract.

Example.

And before you say "why would he come to a club that finished 17th"

Because it's the PL.
And players like.......money.

Funny thing is, we brought a lot of prem tested recently, and for the last 2 seasons, they have managed to get us finished 17th in the league, and have been the biggest ones to let us down.

PL tested, is just a myth, what matters if they fit the way the club/manager players, regardless if they PL tested or not.

Agree mate. Players are coached to within an inch of their lives nowadays and just because they worked in a specific setup somewhere, doesnt mean they are going to work in a different setup somehwere else.

Which players in our team can take on players?

Tel = Sometimes
Richarlison = No
Solanke = No
Maddison = No
Gallagher = No

Summerville would be a great signing.

Kudus is pretty much the best player in the PL
at 1v1’s. Odobert is a 1v1 talent if he ever plays for us again. Xavi is probably top 10% in the league for attacking midfielder 1v1’s

We could use more but it’s not a pressing priority

It's probably just some twitter guff and won't happen but just don't see why we'd be making signings or going in for players like this before we even confirm a new DoF.

I can get us pushing through Robertson and Senesi to a degree - experienced older players on free transfers we've spent a long time working on that might fuck off elsewhere if we don't push them through quick. Like whatever happens this summer we do need depth at LB, LCB and some more experienced heads in the squad, so you can kinda justify getting the deals done. They're not ones for the future - they're cover/depth for a couple seasons.

But imo we shouldn't do a single other deal until we've got a new DoF confirmed who is working with De Zerbi and coming up with a coherent long term plan and transfer strategy.

I get that but I also think that we cannot afford to wait as long as that could possibly take. De Zerbi said after the last game that the building of the new team has to start immediately.

I would assume that Roberto is involved with all transfer work this summer. And when Lange gets canned for a replacement Roberto serves as the bridge between the two directors.

That's probably the best explanation actually, especially if the club feel like it might take a few months to get the new DoF in the door. We've seen in the past how those deals can take time with guys needing to give notice or whatever.

We should've really been lining someone up well in advance. I suppose we did with Kehl but that's gone suspiciously quiet. Maybe second thoughts over that deal since De Zerbi's arrived? And it's gonna take a while to line up an alternative?

That's what I think.

I could even see there being overlap between the two directors for a bit just to allow for a smooth transition if need be.

And yeah. We should have been much more proactive on this front (very us), but I can understand that the flux in regards to league status threw a spanner in possible recruitments and we had to wait to confirm if we were in the Prem or not.
