Management What would you do if you were manager of the current squad?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

How come he is the only player that has played in that position that you claim was played as a 'defensive winger's?

Bale, Moura, and Lamela have all played in the same position and I can't remember anyone describing those players as 'defensive wingers'.

Even when Bergwijn has played on the other side, in the Son role, was he also a defensive winger?

Is it possible that the PL is tougher than the eredivisie and that the abuse Bergwijn received after the Liverpool game was very damaging?
Bergjwin is fucking shite.

Not sure why he has duped so many. Flattrack bully in one of the shittest leagues around, scores a good debut goal and people cling to that and think we have a proper player.

Stop playing timid, dogshit defensive gameplans, compact the gap between defenders and forwards like we used to so under Poch.

Get that negative Mourinho football out of our system and actually try to go and score.

Those days when we used to win 5 nil 6 nil under Poch, weren’t they fucking great?
I seem to remember plenty of failures to breakdown packed opposition defences and winning by the odd goal under Poch too. We were never playing like City.

If Austin is not our on loan id put him on the bench ahead of Hart. Id also put Devine and Scarlett in the match day squad with Laviner made understudy to Aurier Docherty and Hart and Winks would be told inform your agents you need clubs. They would have access to senior squad facilities stopped.

Id tell Toby Rodon Tanganga Sanchez they are the four CB till seasons end and play them in full and sevens practice matches to decide which side suits which pairing.

Id switch to four three three with N'dombele PHE and Locelso the first choice mid. Id play Kane Bale Son ahead of them...but id start giving Vinicius fifteen min cameos whatever the state of the game score wise. With either of the starting three pulled for him every game limiting their mins to 75mins one in three.

Cirkin would now be made Reguilons understudy with Davis used only as a left centerback in extremis.
Id start drilling the attacking unit in movements ment to optimise quick progression through the thirds with Kane as a pure nine. Id work on Locelso and N'dombele taking it in turns to arrive in the box for late runs from deep.

Id drop the low block as Eric Dier would never play for me again. Id put Reguilon and Locelso on free kicks and corners respectively. Id start practicing set pieces with the Centre-backs and defensive mids. Even Moyes has this working for West ham. Id tell Hoijberge to calm the fuck down then id make him captain. I tell the players its time to attack our opponents and enjoy their football.

Probably irrational for me to still be pissed about it, but I wouldn't be able to resist going up to Levy and giving him a swift kick in the bollocks for those 2 barren windows.

It's hard to say what the right thing for the manager to do is when we don't know what's going on behind the scenes.
It doesn't take much for confidence and morale to be sky high, or slump to nothing.

I seem to remember when Poch arrived there was some kind of negative French speaking clique which he quickly got rid of based around captain Kaboul. Perhaps there is something like that going on again.

Ultimately we have shite defensive options, a couple of midfielders we can't afford to rotate, and some top class forwards we also struggle when rotating.

How do you make the bench players fight and challenge for a place in the team? It's hard to say but I get the impression some players have given up on getting much game time and simply aren't fighting for it, waiting for what they think will be an inevitable move to another club or a replacement manager comes in.
This is down to Mourinho I think and how he motivates (or not) players outside the starting 11. The idea he has a favourite 11 that matter, then ignore everyone else is very believable.

I fear players like Bale, Dele, Sissoko, Winks, Aurier aren't happy with their game time, confide in each other, and develop a toxic situation where player happiness is coming before the teams performances.
So for me the players and manager are equally responsible. A new manager offers fresh hope to all these afterthought players and would expect an immediate up turn in performances.

Players that have just been ignored for international selection are now likely to miss the Euros. I'm sure a few of the lads playing last night were gutted to not be called up, and Winks for one will know that his Europa League performances simply aren't enough for Southgate to pick him - so threw in the towel.

So if I were a new manager coming in it would be a different situation to being the manager for the past year or so. If I were the current manager, I would probably be looking to regain the trust and fight of the 'backup' players which can only really be done by giving them games.
Sounds counter productive to play our worst players that haven't been performing though doesn't it..

The problem with alienating some players, even if they are bad eggs, is you risk poisoning the rest of the squad. Especially if said aliens are popular within the squad. Even if such alien has influence on 1 or 2 others, that’s all you need to create issues in a dressing room.

So, I feel, the manager has tried to give everyone a chance, albeit some get the stick, but they have all been given the carrot at the end. Have they all responded to it? Tanguy seemed like he did, Aurier was playing well before picking up a knock, so the issue seems to be what to do with Alli & Winks.

Enter Levy. You have to remember, at the club there is no such role as manager anymore. So you will be the head coach, which means you can only advise and let the club do what’s best. So whatever decisions are made have to be made by Levy.

So no one should think they can just banish anyone in the dressing room to play with the U-23. No chance. Unless Levy wakes up. But will he?

You PLAY for the fucking badge!!! That’s what Hugo was saying last night. Fuck the Euros in the summer. Worry about the fucking Euros you are being knocked out of ffs.

I see now why Jose has been banging on about only worry about the next game. This lot can’t be allowed to think ahead as it fucks up their concentration during a game!

Yeh with some players I am very hestitant to judge under this Jose shitshow. That’s why we need a new manager in at end of season early so they can make the call. Bergwijn has a lot of talent, it’s not like Sissoko who you know is limited.
Bergwjin is like 90% of our squad.
Some nice touches but a coward who goes into his shell.
Another £25 million wasted by the transfer team and another player that the manager did not pick.

I'm a non league manager and I wouldn't take some of these players. Straight away i would switch to a 4-3-3, develop clear patterns of play. Back 4 options ain't the best but are they any worse than west ham's Everton's man utds Chelsea's?? I dont think they are but again it's been chopped and changed too much and a lack of understanding. It's any managers job to get a group of players playing to their potential or in most cases well above themselves where the sum of the parts is greater than the individuals.
