Pretty much every comment I've heard from people that have played under poch at espanyol southampton and now us, have been that he's a fantastic man manager. And really its hard to argue otherwise.

For example, would anyone complain at any of the players that have left us so far? Paulinho? Bet you're all gutted about that. Holtby? Nice guy but did fuck all. Kaboul? One good game in about 3 years. Adebayor? Less said the better. Capoue?

Whereas look at the players that have improved. Harry Kane has become god. Ryan Mason and Bentaleb were our first choice centre mid pairing for nearly the whole of last season. Danny Rose was one of our best players. All 3 of the english lads god called up to the England squad for the first time.

Some people need to stop making shit up based on their opinions and just look at the actual facts. Calling the manager a disgrace for making lennon train with the youth is ridiculous. And insulting to the youth players. If players aren't going to earn their place in the squad, then thats on them, not the manager. Besides, when was the last time Lennon did something in a Tottenham shirt that warrants him a place in the squad.

It's worth pointing out that mental health issues can be circumstantial, or clinical.

If there is a trigger, health, or environmental cause, then you can overcome it on a permanent basis - this could be a bad relationship, your living circumstances, or just the "way things are going".

Clinical depression is a bit different - it's something either you're born with, or develop over time. There may not be a logical reason for what you're feeling, and you could be a billionaire with the life of larry, yet you feel like you can't cope. You don't ever 'cure' things like that imo, you just 'treat' it - whether it is with methods of learning how to cope with it, ignore it, or otherwise use medicinal treatments.

So some people do recover, whereas many don't.

Depression is made a mockery of in the same way that Influenza is (i.e. 'the flu') - too many people use it as a term to describe their own attention seeking or general low mood, which desensitises the public perception of what depression is, and what recovery is.

It's well known that mental health in football is completely neglected, so I hope both Aaron begins to recover and that it raises awareness towards depression, and starts to dispel the notion of "how can a rich footballer be depressed?".

As a therapist myself, and also as someone who has suffered (more than) a fair share of mental health problems, it's an interesting question about recovery. One that, after more than three years doing this job, I'm still not sure about.

IME some people do make a full recovery, some don't. The severity of the problem will clearly influence that, though some people do escape even the most severe depression. Age is also a factor. The younger you are the more likely you are to change, and the quicker change will be. Remember the brain keeps growing until you're 25. The more hardwired your responses are, the harder they are to change- though even an old person has some degree of neuroplasticity (the ability for neurons to make new connections).

But I think within everyone, or almost everyone, there is the scope for at least a considerable degree of recovery. I think it often tends to go in waves, in that you might be good for a number of years, but then have bad periods again...if it's a severe condition then there will probably always be the possibility of a relapse.

"There's only one Aaron Lennon"- hope he gets the help he needs.

Yeah, ranks right up there with ISIS, Boko Haram and the nazi party. Absolutely disgraceful.

Lennon made me to support Spurs.
I was in Paris for a week during the World Cup 2006, watching games everyday at cafes. Once was watching England vs Trinidad Tobago at Cafe Verts near Alma-marceau with some English supporters.

Eriksson put Lennon in the second half, that was his A match debut I remember. The fans started to blame Eriksson, playing a 18-yr old kid who had no experience at World Cup. I had heard a bit about him before, so told them that the kid got pace, lets just watch coz I got some feeling he'll be a whizz kid. They might have laughed at me, an East Asian girl of her early twenties acts like football expert in front of English fans!

But Azza did really well and actually assisted Beckham's goal, the crowd(yes, of 5 people) went wild and the skeptical bought me a pint of beer.

From then to about 2009 was my and his golden days at Spurs. I joined the Korean Spurs Community and became one of the board members. Then left for England and stayed a year which made my faith in the club so immense. He played week in week out and became one of our most important players. Never been the most expensive or famous one, but he did his role very well with his pace, piercing the defense challenges. I was so into him that I have sent hand-written letters and presents several times and once couldnt sleep that he visited my myspace after I requested to be friends! (He didnt accept the request thou :lennonlol:)

He was the last remained one from Jol days, I feel bad that my memories of golden days finally became a history with his departure. Couldnt be a world class player but does worth to have in the squad IMHO. Seeing a player from my country, Son, getting no. 7 which was my favorite Spurs player's makes me feel weird.

All the best, Azza. Thank you for all the precious memories.

Sounds silly for an attacking winger but his ability to track back and nullify counter attacks with his pace and ability to nick a ball is vital yet hugely overlooked by some fans.

(Prepares to get slayed again)

It's a miracle that Lennon is still at the club. he's been less than mediocre for the last 3 years. In fact Chadli set up and scored more goals last season than Lennon has in his last five combined.

Some great memories as with VDV but when the best thing you can praise a winger with Lennon's pace for is his "defensive contribution" then it's time for them to move on.

Even the most idealistic of us must admit that Lennon never quite fulfilled his potential. Flashes of brilliance, but caused regular exasperation with piss weak shots and terrible deliveries.

I will miss his jinking runs into the box, terrifying the opponent defender till they fell over.

I wont miss him standing completely stationary awaiting the ball to his feet, his heels scraping the touch line, hands slightly out to the sides, with a mildly aggravated look on his face.

God speed Azza Blud.
