so, for us "go out and beat them, not wait for them to die of boredom" people
was that a masterclass?

becaused, correct me if I'm wrong, we spent the first half dominating possession, and scored (go out and beat them)

In the second half we stopped running the show and went into "masterclass" mode (wait for them to die of boredom) until we conceded

and then we switched back to lets make them look shit mode (go out and beat them) - but left it too late to go back to masterclass (wait for them to die of boredom)mode.

Is that right?

Next week will really show Jose's mettle.

For 60 mins or so we couldn't play a single ounce of football. That was Crystal Palace that made us look absolutely lost when we had the ball.

Liverpool are going to be all over us and if we don't get that outlet to Kane, we are basically nullified.

Credit to the keeper cause yeah, it could have been 3-1, but CP also had some close ones. The game always felt on edge after that first goal from Kane.

Sergio for all his wonders this year really struggled today.

Midfield was nonexistent in terms of build up play for that last 60mins or so. They protected the back well enough, but they didn't settle the game at all.

Jose has to show some balls as he were to say because that was pitiful. We are better than them. Don't let off the pedal until it is 3-0. We were in control for the first 25 mins or so.

It'd be nice to actually see us play through midfield...
We just need to do a LOT more work to get the team playing a bit of tiki taka, cos that's how you can evade the press and release a bit of pressure.

Mourinho obviously puts the emphasis on protecting the lead but he won’t be happy with the second half. We didn’t play any football until they equalised, we gave so many balls away and so many stupid fouls.

It’s one thing to keep the opponent at arms length but another one to let them have all the play. We didn’t have them under control like we did with Woolwich.

It's the free kicks that's gonna get him would up.
I doubt he's that bothered about giving the ball away in the middle but giving free kicks away around the box is not what we should be doing

Yeah but isn't that more concerning? That we offered next to nothing until we conceded, then they realised they needed another goal? Why can't we just play football, instead of relying on a counter?
We didn't pass it properly today.

Let the crowd rattle us.

That disrupted our usual calm.

Second half was maddening. A title challenge looks a long way off if that's how we play against the mid table sides.
We played worse against Palace, Brighton, Burnley and West Brom then we did against City, Chelsea and Woolwich from a tactical execution standpoint.

For being such a pragmatic manager, and also understanding how to play given game state situations, Mourinho seems to still be at a loss of how to defend leads against different teams.

Palace were there to be had today and that would have been a much better defense of our lead than what we did that second half.

I think if we weren’t playing Liverpool mid week we win today, wonder how many players were holding something back to stay fit for Wednesday? I wonder when we will learn there is no such thing as an easy game in this league , well except for last weekend

2 world class saves from their keeper was the difference there, Hugo had practically zero to actually do... unfortunately thats just the way it goes some times. the gameplan was working until we started giving away daft free kicks
