Sissoko is limited, we all know that, but he gives it away less than Eriksen did towards the end.

This game really always stands out for me as to how bad he got

Gave the ball away against Olympiacos TWENTY TWO times. That is appalling.
And it just kept happening. And what he did well dwindled down to nothing.

If he comes back, it'll be a disaster.
If he comes back and it doesn't, I'll ban myself from this forum as a forfeit.

The problem with your post here is that it is very subjective and if it is a disaster when/if he comes back there will be people on here who won’t accept the reality such is their ridiculous devotion to Eriksen and they’ll be asking you to ban yourself regardless!

What?
I didn't say he stood there. I said he racked up the majoroty oif his 10k by jogging around for 90 minutes.
Wheras other players rack there's up by properly sprinting to chase balls, tackles etc and then THEY stop, he just trots around, slowly and casually and then people rave about his distance stats.

I really can't explain it any more simplistically if I tried.
Ok. I think he made an effort, you don’t. We don’t have to agree.

It's funny that those who think people are re-writing history in downplaying how good he was seem to think he was better than Messi. Madrid paid £100m for Hazard with 1 year left on his contract while not going for Eriksen at a much cheaper price. He is probably the most overrated player in this club's recent history.
Who on earth said he was better than Messi, or near that level?

He was simply a really good midfielder for us. An 8/10 player that provided bucket loads of assists and a good tally of goals too.

I don’t think he was as good as De Bruyne; simply a very competent midfielder that we haven’t really managed to replace.

Genuinely don’t get why people are pretending he was average.

Youre only as good as your last game at Spurs.

short memories or remembering the last year?

He was certainly pants in the last year. And he’s struggled at Inter too.

That’s why I think he’s physically gone. Just cumulative exhaustion. I don’t want him back for that reason, as I don’t think it will help us. But I certainly don’t wish the fella any ill will.

I think it's mental fatigue more than anything. He wanted to leave for a new experience cos he wasn't doing well mentally.

The move didn't give him what he needed mentally.

Eriksen in, Winks out anyone?? Would be my choice if we can find ways around next the HG situation.

In the summer Sissoko our, Sabitzer in?

Hojbjerg, Skipp, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Eriksen, Sabitzer as our midfield options with Sabitzer also doing his bit to fill in for Lamela’s inevitable departure as and when would suit me fine.

That was it. All that good work undone by either sulking or simply not giving enough to the team. Both, over the course of a season, are unacceptable. Really ruined his legacy for me. Things haven't worked out for him at Inter, so maybe it wasn't personal (i.e. about Spurs), in which case I have a bit of sympathy, but it's hard to hold him in high regard either way. He definitely had some great games, no doubt, but the slow fade and the corners... Fuck man, the corners... From a FK specialist? It was beyond a joke. It felt personal.

Can't say I'd be happy to have him back. His vision and passing may help, but he's no replacement for Winks and his inability to tackle means he has limited uses.

Rather have winks here personally, need him more for homegrown as well.

Yeah, having thought about what I'd just written, it made me wonder what was going on in his mind during that last season. At one point he was "if we're not winning in the 85th, give me the ball" and towards the end we were groaning when he was taking the final corner of the game. You don't just get bad at corners for no reason. I wonder what was up?

[Fighting urge to pull Jan in on this one, but that can't have been it, right?]

These are our current midfield/AM options (not including Hojbjerg, Ndombele and Lo Celso who are 'keepers'.

Winks, Sissoko, Dele, Gedson, Lamela, Bale, Lucas, Bergwign.

Might not Eriksen be a useful addition?
Gedson will be gone, Delli might be going on loan and Lamela...well as I said in another thread, we probably should be selling him now. If Bale doesn’t pick up by the end of the season, he most likely won’t be here next year. We’ll end going from pretty well stocked in midfield to pretty light and TBH, even Eriksen of the last 18 months is probably a better option then some of the players we have mentioned above. Staying off the injury table and always being available already puts him ahead of some

That was more of a Zidane choice (wanted him at Madrid before he joined Chelsea) and so far seems a big blunder

There's no telling what kind of Eriksen we would be getting back but imo it's less of a punt than the Bale one we took.

You could see how much Jose rated him in the documentary and he made some important contributions despite wanting away.

I could see this being a bit of a Levy deadline day move, no loan fee we just cover wages.

It would be nice if we start to see more of Hojberg and Ndombele deeper as Jose starts to trust the latter more. That frees up the number 10 spot where we only really have the crocked GLC. Eriksen could be a decent option there.
Its more likely to be Eriksen playing the deeper role not Ndombele

Bale carried us through to the last day of him being here, as did Modric. Eriksen gave up 12 months before.
Modric was playing to get a promised move, Bale didn't know he was going. Eriksen was planning to wind his contract down.

Personally, I believe "never go back" is best. But if we get him , he wants it, and the manager can get a tune out of him, fair enough

If he comes back and is dogshit, I'll be able to prove that far more easily than they'll be able to prove he was any good.
