But it's night and day between Emery and Arteta - and they have the same players too.

So who really is at fault here?

Have the players peaked? Have the players just lost any hunger? Is Mourinho phoning it in until the summer where he can get a pre-season and really decide to get his teeth sunk in?

A few of our players are past their best and are unlIkely to improve now

Arteta is doing much better than most people thought he would

Jose is hoping we can still qualify for the Europa and then yes get his teeth stuck into a pre season and a clear out because we badly need one

Levy as you state operates on advice from Scouts and Coaches. Bergwijn was already a target before Mourinho arrived and he did not take credit for his purchase but I cannot believe he would not have given his approval. Levy would not have gone and watched him and thought he is the player we need.
As to Fernandes and Lo Celso, whilst we never get the full picture my memory was that last summer both were targets and we only wanted 1 of them basically as Erikson was leaving. We got Lo Celso and everyone was happy at the time and Fernandes stayed where he was. Both players were expensive and neither cheap. Mourinho has recently stated that he would not swap Lo Celso for Fernandes. So whilst Levy does not always get the player the Manager wants, I cannot see he is bringing in players that the Manager does not want. 2018 was the proof as Poch basically said either bring in certain players or none at all. When Levy could not negotiate for the players he wanted then we got no one. That was a mistake and I think Levy has learned from that and that is why we bought 2 expensive players this season.

Lo celso was an Eriksen replacement, so no most of us wasn’t just happy with him. Hence why Spurs went for Dybala, so there was money in the bank to go for that next level elite player to push us forward, yet Levy failed once again. GLC, whilst a decent signing hasn’t made us any stronger than when Eriksen was here. He’s a replacement, nothing more and nothing less. He hasn’t had the impact Ferndades has had for United for instance. Levy failed to push us further as a club and failed to bring in that elite player.

People can try to defend them all they want whilst still claiming not to be very defensive of them. But the fact is under enic/levy we are a crap mid table team & they have taken us backwards from a few years ago.
It could be many years before we get top 4 again under these lot.
Its they who choose the scouts & recruitment staff. So another cock up.
Enic/levy have no intention of taking us to the next level. You gotta admire the faith of the enic/levy lovers who think they are.
They can actually watch us play football & Think we are on our way to the next level.

They are completely blinded by all the fancy stadium, training facilities, NFL income etc etc. They have bought right into it, totally ignoring what should be the first thing you want when supporting a football team, is for success and to see you’re club succeed and win trophies. That’s what sport is all about, competing and trying to win. Levy/ENIC don’t compete to win trophies. They compete to rake in profits.

They have been tricked in to believing they want what is best for the club. They clearly put profits before success. Deceive the fans whilst charging them sky high prices for it.
More & more are gradually realising this with the clear evidence on the pitch of how crap we have become under enic/levy. Some are still in denial but that is probably just pride, faith or not wanting to admit you were wrong this whole time. So after another crap performance they have to lie to themselves & say we are moving forward to the next level despite the evidence displayed.

£42 million record signing on Davinson Sanchez supplanted a few years later by a £60 million record signing of Ndombele. Was it Levy that scouted and pushed for the signing of these two duds?

You know it just hit me that Levy has authorised £40 and £50 million purchases without going to see what he is buying.
Our transfer business has to be so secret squirrel that we wind up buying flops from abroad.
 
The better question is why have so many players form fell off the cliff at the same time. Lloris for the most part has been poor, Jan and Toby waned last season, this season they've been shocking, Aurier and Davies have gone backwards, Dele has flopped barring 4 or 5 games and Kane's all round play is great, but both he and Sonny are lacking consistency.

How did it all happen at the same time?

It seems there are legit people on here who believe this can happen

In terms of overall quality of football shown over 38 games - 6th is actually an overachievement. Write off a shite season and let's move on.
