I think people would have sympathised more with Levy had we atleast TRIED to show some ambition in the market at critical points of various seasons when even pundits and other club fans were in agreement that we were playing some of the best football in the league.

Still to this day I think our best peak was under Redknapp. He was a cult hero. A massive personality who got us playing quality football and gave us our confidence back. Harry Redknapp in a way, saved us from Levy at a time when we looked like we was going to get relegated in the 08-09 season. 2 points from 8 games and not a single win. Having sacked Martin Jol the previous season off the back of a 5th place finish (ironically due to Levy randomly deciding to slyly sack him barely into the season) and replacing him with Juande Ramos, that season was testiment to what happens when you give Daniel Levy complete and total control of THFC. It ends in chaos. Redknapp, with his PL experience, no nonsense approach, strong character, and ability to perform well with limited resources, was the perfect ying to Levys yang and kept him in check. In Redknapps last season was possibly the best Spurs team iv ever seen under the Levy era. when we had Bale, Modric, VDV, Adebayor, Scott Parker. That was a damn good team of unity albeit very little squad depth and not the greatest defence, but Dawson and Gallas (free transfer) did a solid job. It had experienced older players mixed with young up and coming, and a few world class beaters in Bale, Modric and VDV. Every player had its role and just slotted in perfectly and had us playing some of our most confident and exciting football Iv ever seen us play. To put things in to perspective, this is the season where Adebayor was brought in on loan, having half of his wages paid by City. The same year we brought in Scott Parker for around 5M, to which Redknapp had to BEG Levy to get because Parker was old and had no resale value. The same season where in a crucial January window, Levy gave us an old Saha and Ryan Nelson. The same season where at this point, things began to crumble and we gave up something like a 14 point lead. A great team, but lacked the squad depth to stay competitive for an entire season. And that sums up Levys tenure. Managers or "head coaches" as Levy likes to say, can only get so much out of the players given to the them, which they do for an extended period of time until the players have been drained. Ultimately Levy holds the key when it comes down to the transfer business end. And time after time, when we are 2-3 years into a new spurs cycle, and things are going well, it's Levys failure to strengthen at crucial times that ultimately causes the wheels to fall off. And after a few seasons of champions league money and TV revenue, he has doubled down in this ideology.

The rest we all know about Levys tight fistedness. I personally think Harry Kane has carried us for a number of years now. Its been 7 years since we went out and brought a proper world class striker. Kane turning out the player he is was an accident to the club. Still, because of Mourinhos personality and ability to stand up to owners, I still think he can be successful, IF Levy backs down and let's Mourinho do his job. I still think Mourinho is holding back himself because being at a club like Spurs is relatively new territory for him. However, Levy is indefensible at this point. This transfer window and last years transfer window have been an utter joke.

The scary thing about not being able to think for yourself though is that so many of the people now voting out have based it on the Everton game.

Let’s be honest, had we won, this thread wouldn’t even exist would it.
It's called 'the straw that broke the camel's back" sammy. Everyone has a breaking point and starting the new season with such an abject performance may well have brought a lot of people to reach theirs.
The total lack of a retaliatory reaction to them scoring gave the fans no hope whatsoever of a comeback and nothing to indicate positive changes in the offing.
Sad start and alarm bells ringing in the distance already.

I'll take that given it prompted Liverpool to actually act upon years of failure resulting in sensible and prudent recruitment. However, this relies on having bold and intelligent people in senior positions which is where I worry.
Put it this way: when Liverpool sold Coutinho people said it was mad. Their best player, many people said, citing a lack of ambition. Instead, they had done their research, clearly identified the positions and players they needed to have a crack at the league, and executed it down to a tee. They paid big money for these players but in a way it was a safe investment. Why? Because they did their homework.
Contrast this with us at Spurs when we sold Bale..and scatter gun spent the cash. Of those we reinvested the cash in,only Eriksen proved a good acquisition. Chiriches? Lamela? Chadli, etc? Less so...
My point is that I'm beginning to think that selling our crown jewel,Harry,is the way we refresh this team and turn a corner. However,we need the right people and right strategy in terms of how to spend that cash and I'm not convinced those individuals exist at the club at present and all we would do now would be to repeat the mistakes of the past with the Bale money.
One thing is for sure...Harry Kane isn't staying with the bunch of players around him for much longer..

Not just Coutinho..Suarez and Sterling..that's 250M they spent on VVD, Allison, Mane, Salah, Firminho et al. Ironically the man in charge of their transfer strategy used to work for Spurs.

I don't have a problem selling any player but i've got zero confidence that Hitchen, Levy and the rest will get quality to replace whoever leaves. They certainly haven't done over the last 3 years.

I have been on the Levy and ENIC out bandwagon for the best part of 6/7 years now. Results don’t suddenly change my opinion. I have always been of the opinion they hold us back massively on the playing field and their sole ambition is to create a brand with profit.

Glory to them on the pitch is a secondary target, as long as they are making money through Lady GAGA concerts, NFL, balancing the books etc. They harbour no ambition like the other top clubs, hence why Levy is literally a perfect match for them. A tight fisted asshole who’s comments prove he is not willing to take that extra step to truly make this club successful. Always blaming other people. Always making excuses for his failings.

If anything, this amazon documentary has made him look an even more of a twat. “ it’s so hard buying players “ blah blah blah. Then why do other clubs find it so easy then? Fed up of his antics and sick to death of going every season unprepared, meaning we usually start the season shit. No striker back up now for over a year, utter shambles they are.
It is hard to sign players for Spurs tho...especially when you try to sign them for way less than their current club wants for them.....it’s not hard really, we just choose to make it hard...

As for the stadium I love it and hate it in equal measures....it’s an amazing piece of architecture no doubt, but it will never be home until it creates great memories and parades some trophies...our record there to date has been poor as fuck against our “rivals”....

Football fans are all bloody idiots

We are all hypocrites, we are all delusional at some point or another and we all moan about stupid things

Really dont get why some have such a superiority complex but oh well

I agree, but I don't get why people take being a fan so seriously. We love the club, if we cant get excited at times and hope, dream and believe what really is the point? Sides come and go, super clubs come and go, but the spirit and excitement from a win never leaves us. Its simple math, we are one of many clubs who can win at most 4 titles, should we have won more, of course we should have. Is that's Levy's fault, of course it is at times, is it the managers, of course it is at times. If you follow football simply to seek glory you are kidding yourself. I support Spurs for the history and the players I loved growing up, not to say "look at we have won". I would say if you are under 50 you are in the same boat as me.

I just think its years of having hope and getting really close and it never really working out I guess , just very frustrating and right now I basically see history repeating itself from a few years back in that we had a team very close to winning big prizes and it seems like we let it drift away

I'm 25 and have only seen two league cup wins with one of them coming when I was very young

Why is it, when one of the richest clubs in the world finally sign a much needed football player, the fans are expected to cup the chairmans balls?

This doesn't happen anywhere else.

Get a grip lads. It's fucking cringeworthy
No wonder other fans take the piss
