Sounds like some huge deal, but its around £4M/yr. In the terms of football budgets its fuck all, especially considering selling out constantly is never gonna happen with so many midweek games you're likely losing less than £3M in real attainable revenue.

The idea that something like that can/should be an impetus to action is just wrong.

There does need to be action, but that isn't going to be why.

It’s the start of a drop off. The stadium is still new and shiny and we’re already seeing more empty seats than any other club? Ouch. If ENIC don’t stop the rot then more and more people will make the decision not to go, and rightly so since they charge top tier prices for mediocre football.

And if we start seeing emptier stadiums and the quality of football continues to deteriorate, we’ll be hit commercially as well. I mean, where’s the naming rights? Could it be Levy is valuing those as if we’re a team competing for the CL rather than a side being knocked out of the ECL?

The action needs to come from ENIC. It’s time to roll the dice on getting back to being CL regulars. If we don’t achieve that then all the delusions of grandeur will mean nothing.

Its not really a surprise. Many, many many people, on here even, said we would struggle to consistently fill 62k seats. The stadium was built to maximize sales for the biggest matches and to maximize attendance for off-day events. It wasn't built to be at capacity 80%+ of the time, if it was they would have likely built about 50k max.

I bet we’d be defying those claims if we were still playing the kind of football we did under Poch and were competing. And this is just the current drop off, another 2-3 seasons of mediocrity and it will almost certainly continue to slide. I’m almost certain we even failed to fill the stadium for the opening league game against City, the champions!

People aren’t being drawn in, and that’s surely at least a little concerning when it’s still a fresh, new stadium with all the bells and whistles. If it’s struggling now, where are we at in say 5 years if things don’t get better on the pitch?

Which was not a statement of the wisdom of building to that capacity.

But anyway, in the current season we're averaging lower attendance than Woolwich or West Ham in a larger (and let's be honest, better) facility.

And that's with one point separating the three clubs. That's just the cynicism and bad vibes effect. Wait until the results tank.

Not sure how they're calculating it exactly, but a big part of the revenue model for the stadium is not just the ticket prices, but in beers and pies and merch and the like which was designed to attract and retain people in the facility to a greater extent than a normal football ground.

Then of course the matchday take is also net of the fixed stadium financing costs, which makes those marginal dollars (pounds, whatever, go away) leveraged above their face value to an extent.

Then consider we're at the tip of the iceberg for disgust and disinterest with the club.

And the matchday revenue situation is probably the MOST stable outlook of the three-legged stool of TV, commercial, and matchday.

ENIC will lose their shirt, relatively speaking, from Levy's continued oversight of the organization.
I think you're being a bit "the sky is falling" about the whole deal, TBH.

Here's the source.

Their methodology is literally [(Wikipedia Capacity) - (Avg Attendance)] * Cheapest Ticket Available

So the actual financial figure is completely wrong and just a guess. Chavs have 3300 unused seats but nearly "equal" us at £155k unrealized revenue per match, because their cheapest ticket is £47 compared to £20. Kinda takes aim at the "Levy is over charging everyone so badly!" narrative.

Anyway, yeah, the empty seats aren't great. But filling them up, and assuming all those people double their matchday spend buying food and bev, you're adding £8M to the books. (Not all profit, either).

Ain't exactly buying that kid from Brighton, much less hindering our CL aspirations.

Weird how people continually miss the mark and criticise Levy for the shit that doesn't matter (like a fart in the wind bonus) rather than the shit that does matter like Hitchen still having a fucking job, and a damn good one, at Spurs despite completely wasting over a hundred million pounds.

Says some pretty shitty things about the support of this club, if you ask me. We've been far better in the past half decade plus than both of those clubs. We're currently having a better season than them. We have a better stadium than them. Our cheapest available tickets are cheaper than theirs. Yet we throwing a strop and not turning out to support the club.

Just saying. When you point a finger, three point back at you and all.

£20 lowest ticket is bulllshit. For the league? For an adult?

Bullshit article tbh.

When you say regulars - every other season? 1 in 3? Every season? What’s your expectations?

Do you really think we can compete with city year on year?

United and Liverpool are bigger clubs.

Chelsea. They spend what they want.

Woolwich have been far more successful the last 10, 20, 30 years.

What’s our real level and what’s our ceiling? I don’t believe we are really competing with 4 of those clubs. Mismanagement at Utd and Woolwich has helped us.
But even under Ole united finished second due to their spending power. Top four 3 years out of last 6 while generally being called shit or lucky.
That’s what we are competing with.

While we haven’t bought a recognised centre forward in 4 years. And he was past his best too

Let’s face it. Be far more profitable to get more NFL games and concerts at the the Lane than buy 5 x more lo Celso and Ndombele’s.
Those dice rolls are pricey……

But it's the green shoots of hope.

The stadium is getting emptier. Those that go are singing Levy OUT at the top of their voices. The owners are on a greasy pole and I don't think they'll have the will or the stomach to cling on as this starts snowballing into something bigger.

Who knows, they may even be actively looking for a way out as we speak?

I'm actually feeling more optimistic as a Spurs fan than I have in a long time

So I definitely think a lack of ambition and quality is a major factor in the empty seats (who wants to see Hojbjerg clog up the midfield on a weekly basis?), but does anyone else think the amount of Sunday games we have played this season is also a factor?

I don’t think we’ve played a single Saturday kick off yet? Sunday games are rubbish compared to Saturday, and the atmosphere suffers due to everyone dreading work the next day.

Factor in covid, the increases in the cost of living and many people having uncertain futures and then being asked to pay silly money to watch players that are either not good enough for what we as a support demand or players earning a fortune and not putting any effort in and it's easy to see why the stadium is not full.

I know a few that don't go anymore due to a mixture of the above, all true spurs as well.

WALOB

Those seats maybe empty buy they are not unsold. The vast majority of them are STs who have paid for the ticket but haven't attended the game for one reason or another.

Click bait nonsense for the moronic masses.

wwe carter GIF

we can always do an Woolwich and photoshop fans in

Is more than that. More like 15,000 x 70 = 1,050,000 plus food and drinks. 15,000 x £20 = £300,000

Plus a bit of hospitality. Say £250k.

More like £1.5m a game in lost income.

don't the gooners still show attendants as tickets sold not bums on seats ?
as long as seat is sold Levy not that worried (other than less drink & Food sales, not sure what net profit is on a beer & pie is at the stadium)

Technically true as that would be the concession price.

So a ticket for a child / OAP is going to be £20 for a CAT c game. Small percentage of fans for 1/3 of games can buy tickets at that price.

Wonder how many premium seats @£350 go unsold for those games. That’s where the real profit is.

Daniel knows!!!………. $purs$y
