I don’t think this is a given to be a mauling. Liverpool are really good and can maul anyone on their day, but they haven’t really looked like an unbeatable side all year. Easily could have dropped points in a few other games.

Very true, they were gash and dropped points at Old Trafford, but before that they easily could've dropped points against Southampton (away, 1-2), Chelsea (away, 1-2), Sheffield United (away, 0-1), possibly Leicester at Anfield (2-1). The wins over Norwich, Burnley, Woolwich and Newcastle were decent though.

They are a good side and not many teams will get a result at Anfield this season, but it would be nonsense to say that they've been playing great football so far this season.

Yep, you're right, and I'd love that....fuck the ambulance chasing, soap dodging, chip board loving, John Lennon masturbating, nasal whining, desperate to be loved Scouse bastards. No one likes them and they can go jump in the Mersey.

The trouble is, the amount of whine they generate and the media spotlight gets in the refs minds, has Kane won a penalty since that game at Anfield?
He can be hit over the head with a blackjack and then rodgered by it and pundits and refs will still be questioning if their was enough contact and was he looking for it....

They also lost away to Napoli in a pretty dull game and had to cling on to a 4-3 against Salzburg at home. I’m not saying we should expect anything from the game, mind. But I think if we are playing well and have some self belief we can give them some problems.

Don't think we'll see it, but this game is screaming for a 4-3-3 counter attack.

Gazza
Serge - Sanchez - Jan - Davies
Sissoko - Dier - Ndombele
Lucas - Kane - Son

Liverpool's high press is a good. It would be silly to think we can play out of the back. Lucas & Son on the wings would be an easier outlet & pin their FBs back.

Harsh on Lamela, but we need more speed on the wings

Mike Dean is a Tranmere Rovers fan.

Like that rugby tackle on him against Newcastle which was unbelievably not given.

Winks will slow any momentum moving forward with speed , zip and creativity.
The team should be largely based on last nights ( even if red star were poor) as its only time we have shown any fluidity and any sustained threat .
Dier
Sissoko
Trippier

Lady’s and gentlemen, may you stand while I present our neeeeeeewwwwwww

Last night was a much needed pro training game to get back some confidence against a side who were afraid of their own shadow.

This current pool team away is another world.

Those putting Dier in their teams for this game are truly masochistic.

Those not expecting us to get flank raped if we don't set up right - don't be surprised when it happens.

yeayea. And Veronghen is also aging and slow. Well, Kane is not the fastest bloke in the world. While we are at it, Ndombele is not in the perfect shape... so let's just put light-framed guys from academy on, use Winks as DM and that will get us somewhere right?!

Ffs, Dier might not be ballon d'or nominee, but WE DONT HAVE BETTER DM. Baffles me how people don't get it. We should have upgraded this position, but while we didn't he is best of the bad options. Simple as.

Lamela's been a lot better than Lucas on their respective appearances this season.

If he is fully fit, it would be good to see Dier starting this game.
Different prospect to Red Star at home obviously, but hopefully the players should be in a better frame of mind after last night.
Maybe Pochettino will be on the phone to Solskjaer this week for some tactical tips for Sunday 😜

Dier is pretty much the last person I want starting against Liverpool. He’s far too slow and ponderous.

Liverpool Midfield has 2 number 8s and a DM behind them why not match their system with ndemble with winks or sissoko beside him and dier behind them if not or fullbacks are gonna get exposed when they tuck in and when they come out pool will play it on either side of the CBs which exposes the middle.

Danny Rose is complete trash but Ben Davies against Liverpool terrifies me.
Still have nightmares of that game a few seasons ago when Mane constantly waltzed past him.

The defence needs to play a bit deeper to accommodate their pace but I have full confidence in us getting a result (I think!).

Pack the midfield with 5 without the ball.
Full backs coming narrow against their wide forwards.
Wingers matching their full backs.
Counter attack and don't expect to dominate possession.
Eriksen could be Dele, but want to see more mobility out there.
Don't let Toby anywhere near the pitch - I can't watch him get turned inside out again so soon.

Do actually think we could get something from this.

Some People getting carried away with last nights result.
This going to be a mauling. We are going to be bent over, trousers down, and penetrated. Bummed.

good luck to anyone going to the complete shit House of a city. Awful place, awful people. Hooked and obsessed on grief.
Been to Liverpool many times, it's a great city.

They behave like a bunch of cultists, probably has something to do with why they love rampant socialism and are mostly Labour.
Don't think its any coincidence their kit is full red if you catch my drift.

Last time I went there in the late 90's when we got done with a late Michael Owen pen - dive of course. they had shards of glass and nails concreted on top of brick walls, and every house had a window out. the place is an utter tumour on the butt crack of humanity. No wonder the football team is a religion.
A bit harsh. I've been up there a few times to work in their Children's Hospital and I always found the folks there warm and friendly. I remember asking for directions and the bloke actually walked me there. I was so grateful, I bought him a pint in the locale and he introduced me to a few of his friends and they were a lot of fun.
Good Indian restaurants too. And it's different from the 90's, really different.
