Good memory!

Sounds like a fantastic game, didn't see, will watch highlights.

My criticism of him last season and my preference for Rodrigo was based on his lack of aggression. Otherwise he had it all, pace, skill. I just wanted him to take the position by the scruff and make it his own when going forward. His defence has been solid against the better teams.

Delighted that Conte has worked his magic on the lad! HG too.

One of the 'benefits' of you having a distinct memorable moniker :)

All about staying fit and getting into a rhythm for Sess now. Since he signed he needs to be able to run off the ball as others have mentioned. Posted some time ago, where he excels is passing and sprinting down the wing, and getting the ball back again. He needs those triangles to advance down the wing. But when he gets around the box his finishing can be decent.

With five subs, wingbacks are going to be a natural substitution option considering how much running they do.

Having a 1-2 with Sess and Perisic is going to be so valuable if Sess keeps up this form.

Yes, and in Conte you know that any dips in performance or attitude will see time on the bench or in the stands.

But clear as day Conte rates the bloke.

Reg probably crosses better, but Sess’ movement fits this squad better and Conte has him playing his role.
That's true.
Sess, I think, is a way better defender and a better player overall than Reggie.
His attacking game definitely needs work but I'm really beginning to think that we could have a very, very good player on our hands.
Albeit not a flashy one.

He did play well yesterday

But he seems completely unwilling or unable to take his man on

Can be quite frustrating at times
I wouldn't worry about that too much tbh. I expect that will come in time, but at the moment his strength going forward is the give and go, drawing the opposition FB onto him, laying the ball off and then running beyond the FB.

I have a funny feeling that if he stays injury free, he's going to be in the conversation for that England LWB position come the WC.

He might not edge his way in, but Shaw's not really featuring, Chilwell hasn't played for almost a season, then what do we have left, shoehorning Trippier in there?

I'm just reading the match report S Times, Conte's quote: "Working on his physical aspects"

I couldn't be more chuffed today

He said they've spent a lot of time getting him physically stable and are optimistic that his niggling injuries will be sorted....cue him getting injured this week...

Last night was exactly what I have been waiting to see from him since he got here. As he continues to get guidance from Perisic, he’ll get even better.

But having seen Sessegnon perform against Southampton, Murphy is convinced Sessegnon will be a success this season and has him only behind Gabriel Martinelli and Fabio Carvalho in his top three youngsters to watch out for:

“The other one, and probably the strongest performance of the weekend and who finished the season really well, is Sessegnon at Spurs. He looks – and I’m sure Conte’s had something to do with this – a real physical specimen.

“He’s always had the technical gift, he’s got a sweet left foot, he’s got good skill and he can dribble. But he looks powerful, he looks hungry and he looks confident. And that is a combination you want.

“Obviously people think [Ivan] Perisic is going to walk into the side ahead of him at wing-back. I think Tottenham have a lot of games and if Sessegnon plays like he does at the weekend, there’s nobody will be walking in ahead of him.”

Ryan Sessegnon: ‘Nobody is superhuman but you can try to be as close as possible to it’
Tottenham wing-back is feeling the benefit of Antonio Conte’s intense pre-season programme and is ready to contribute regularly.

Ryan Sessegnon, who opened the scoring for Tottenham against Southampton, hopes he can be a regular threat from wing-back.

I’ll echo what everyone is saying about him but also add he definitely looks to have bulked up a bit. Looking really fit, hopefully that’s helped him move past his injury issues mentally as well.

I’m not his biggest fan and he has a lot to do to convince me he’s good enough for us so I hope he smashes it this season. He could easily be called up by England for the World Cup if we play with wingbacks and he isn’t injured again as there isn’t really anyone else to play there. I hope he doesn’t though, aren’t will do him good.
