Possibly a bit early for a thread for him, but all the signs are that Nile John will fearture for the first team this coming season, possibly as our 6th CM (Ndombele, Lo Celso, Hojbjerg, Skipp plus 1) with playing time mainly in Europa Conference League and domestic cups, probably whilst also playing with u21's (so far he's only made 10 appearances for u21's, remakably few)

First, OS thoughts on Nile John in pre season :

Decent review of Nile John :

He was played as a winger until the last 12 months when he was moved to play as a CM, but an attacking CM. Still only 18 he's 5' 8'' tall, plays with great energy, skillfull on the ball and tenacious, usually a hugh pass completion %. Has a decent shot on him - might need to have further shooting training to improve him.

A regular in England youth set ups, made his Europa League debut last season against Wolfsberger - only about 9 minutes but made an impression, and made bench of last match of PL season v Leicester. And of course 2 early appearances in preseason v Orient and Colchester so far.

One for the future no doubt, but I'd like to see both Nile John and Alfie Devine get minutes this coming season - maybe 10 appearannces each - mainly in Europa Conferencde League and domestic cups, maybe even a sub appeatance or two in PL.

On Tuesday Spurs u21's play Hastings United who play in the Isthmian League South East Division, one tier below Enfield Town.

This was the teamsheet for u21's last game (which was not too far different to their previous pre-season game) and I'd expect a similar lineup against Hastings - unless some of those involved in the Firsr team squad step down due to their being more first teamers back for the first team preseason match on Wednesday :

Lo-Tutala (Oluwayemi 67), Lavinier (Cassanova 67), Hackett (Kyezu 67), Matthew Craig (Michael Craig 46), Muir (J Davies 67), Okedina (c), Mundle (Haysman 67), Santiago (Lyons-Foster 46), Etete, Markanday (Bowden 46), Bennett (Mathurin 67).

In the next game they wil finally face a League 2 side for the first time this pre-season, which I think will be a better test for them based upon an aggregate 10-0 from the first 2 matches - and also a useful run out given Spurs u21's will compete in the EFL Trophy (now re-named Papa Johns) against League 1 and Leagie 2 sides before Christmas, although most of the side playing Hastings is likely to be on loan so won't play in those matches.

Robson and Pedder in their first preseason squads.

Devine drops down from first team squad. Lyons-Foster and Mundle as well

Surpriseed Etete dropped to bench - no obvious striker in starting X1 ?
