Well it seems there are some johnny come lately to this thread and seem to have been oblivious to why some of us do not support Tim sherwood, Yes I know some of you are sick of hearing repetition but here goes .

-He has been identified by Richard Keys and other journalists as the snitch at the club and the one who was leaking stories to the press and causing disharmony.
- Something happened on his first day that saw his fall out with Holtby and Capoue. He tried to force levy's hand to sell them. In the end Holtby was shipped out to fulham ( said he wanted to be sold) and Capoue was nearly solded to Napoli. Personal reasons were put ahead of reason .
-Then began the continual attacks in the press. He went on to suggest he didn't 'trust' some of the players. Once again affirming personal biases rather than suggesting he will evaluate the squad properly.
- He then when on to say 'he didn't know ' some of the players and a few games ago 'didn't know his best 11', when you expected him to have been following the club the last 5 months and would know who the players are since he was the biggest moaner at THFC
-After the 4-0 loss to chelsea or was it city?. He went on to criticize the squad in public and saying 'they lacked character' and saying some of them 'wasn't his cup of tea' causing further disharmony.
-Other comments include 'we showed we deserved to be on the same pitch as Woolwich' ,and Digging the players even more saying they weren't top 4 material.
-Then the 3rd player he fell out with was Vertonghen, who gave up. It was the time Sherwood kept playing his lovechild bentaleb in midfield. I think Vertonghen got disillusioned when he saw the line up and tactics. A midfield of sigurdsson and bentaleb protecting a feeble back 4 against the most in form team in the league (while dembele and sandro were benched)
-The next couple of players Dimwood proceeded to fall out included Lamela, Townsend, Dembele and Sandro.
- He said Lamela won't play again this season despite being fit,He lied about Sandro's fitness resulting him dropping a bombshell on twitter about being fit to play . As for townsend I am not a fan of his but there were times he should have been given some pitch time instead of lennon.

After a near two dozen games the tactics remain woeful. He seems that a good deal of the time we are depending on the talent of players to win against the lower teams but we are persistently blown out of the water against the bigger sides.

There was more than a hint of 'f*ck it' about Tim Sherwood's team selection against Southampton. Much as his team for the Capital One Cup tie against West Ham was the 'anti-AVB XI', a 4-4-2 with a big man/little man pairing up top, when he named his side on Sunday it looked like he was picking a deliberately attacking side as a counter to the relative caution of what came before.

It seems like Sherwood has picked teams to make a point first, and considered what might be appropriate to the situation second. The side at St Mary's made little tactical sense in theory, with two strikers that very much prefer to be centre forwards and no ball-winner in midfield, against a team famed for their quick play and pressing in that area.

It's understandable that Sherwood might want to make a 'statement' - he is, after all, basically auditioning for a job that he not only wants pretty badly, but seems to think he should have been given quite some time ago.

In his early days as Spurs manager, Sherwood has displayed potential as a mild figure of fun, seemingly trying to set himself up as a no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is sort - a return to 'proper' football management after that fancy foreigner came in with his 4-2-3-1s and his statistics and his sleeping at the training ground. In his interviews and press conferences so far, he has been keen to make sure everyone knows he is a 'football man', which could be the sort of cliche bullsh*t favoured by many managers, but could also be either a dig at Andre Villas-Boas or (probably more likely) an attempt to make clear he is very different to his predecessor.

All of that might read as a criticism, but in fact it might be exactly what Spurs need at the moment. Managerial appointments are often made as a reaction to the previous man, and there is a logical reason for that. Sometimes a change is as good as any sort of tactical innovation for a while, re-enthusing a collection of players after whatever the old guy was trying failed.

Sherwood seems to be - on admittedly scant evidence - a man not averse to taking risks. Quite apart from his starting selection, when Mousa Dembele was injured he chose to bring on Nabil Bentaleb instead of Etienne Capoue - not only a gamble because Bentaleb is an untried 19-year-old, but also because by all accounts he is a rather more attacking player than either Dembele or Capoue. "I don't know Capoue as much as I know Bentaleb and that's why I put the latter on instead of the former," said Sherwood after the game, pointing to his knowledge of the Spurs youth set-up rather than the big signings. Again, a key difference to Villas-Boas.

Also, with Spurs 3-2 up and at points clinging onto their lead, he chose to bring Jermain Defoe on for Roberto Soldado, instead of a more defensive option to help close out the game. If that had failed, he would have faced questions, but such is the nature of the gambler.

Incidentally, on the subject of Soldado, he was of course very bad against Southampton, but in a different way to his under-performance previously this season. Soldado has largely been quiet because he hasn't been given enough service - in this game he was given at least three chances on a plate, but made a mess of them. But at least he was given the chances.

Sherwood's approach was, at the very least, worth a go. One of the key criticisms about Villas-Boas is that he was too inflexible, too stubborn, and not willing enough to make positive changes. Sherwood might not be experienced, but he is at least willing to be a little more open-minded, as shown by his selection of Emmanuel Adebayor, a man clearly keen to make a point now, but one that history tells us will revert to listless and ineffectual after a while. All of this might be just what Spurs need, at least in the short-term.

Of course, we can't draw too many conclusions from the game against Southampton. So bad was the home side's defending - particularly from Joos Hoiveld, who appeared to be playing in a very large pair of shoes, having ridden to the ground on a tiny bike and thrown a bucket of glitter, which he pretended was water, over his colleagues - that it would be tough to argue that his tactics definitely worked. Indeed, at stages in the first half it looked like the decision to play that attacking but relatively lightweight midfield four was a suicidal one, folly that would be punished by an energetic Southampton. But, again, at least it was something 'different'.

I wrote recently it's possible that, with a few exceptions, there is rarely such a thing as a 'good' manager these days, simply the 'right' manager for any club or situation. While we don't know if he's a viable long-term candidate, in the short-term Sherwood might just be the right man for Spurs.

4Liverpool37 43 71
5Tottenham37 2 71
6Arsenal37 15 65

Cardiff go 6-4 up against Chelsea, only for Chelsea to bring it back to 6-6, they sit on 73 pts come full time
Everton lose 5-4 away at Hull, Jake Livermore 88th minute goal from inside the area, leaves them on 72 pts
City draw 4-4 at home to West Ham, Martin Demichelis 89th minute own goal to end their title hopes, leaves them on 72pts.
Liverpool were leading the title race 3-1 against Newcaste going into the final 10 minutes: 83 - Ben Arfa, 85 - Cisse, 88, Sissoko 90+1, Dummet 90+3, to finish 3-4. Liverpool end on 71pts
As it stands, 90+6 minutes, Tottenham are drawing 0-0 to Villa. Sherwood finally makes his final substitution, "Bacuna, into El Ahmadi, cut out by Sandro, to Paulinho in the centre circle, BACKHEELS it to Lamela, that was a wonderful bit offfffffffffffffffffffffffffff ahhhbhbhhh LAmamlasnfljsdsjgsghjsg ah89w39wr g !!!!"
Tottenham 1-0 Aston Villa. Tottenham up to 74 points, 1st!. But wait, Marriner hasn't blown his whistle yet, Abonglahor, past Sandro, oh Paulinho's slipped, one on one with Lloris, chips.... WHAT A CLEARANCE, Vertonghen, scorpion kick ON THE LINE, Kaboul boots it past the half way line..... Andre Marriner blows his whistle.... scenes at WHL, due the terrible connection the fans don't know what's going on, and after last season, no one has there phones on. Freund is going mad on the pitch, some of the Spurs support ask him why, he appears to mouth 'we've won the league' the supporters look quizzically, surely Liverpool, Everton, City and Chelsea haven't all slipped up. The news is breaking through now, pockets of fans are going crazy, its spreading, oh there is a pitch invasion. Lamela who is already on the shoulders of Kaboul, is hoisted up further as Kaboul is lifted. Lloris has climbed up on is goal and is cheering with the supporters all around him.

2014/15 season Tottenham finish 18th

I am a massive Tom Carroll fan and I,d like te see him back and he and Eriksen being given the chance to become that/those player. Paulie, Bentaleb and Dembele for me are as good as most box-to-box players, beyond City and Chelsea. And again, I think we have 2 of the best DM in Sandro and Capoue in the league. Ade, if he maintains his appetite can be un-playable and of course the frustration that is Bobbie Solider. Maybe a pre-season and our love and faith will see him/us prosper next season? All we need (imo) is another C/B and L/B and one more front man plus,
and this is the big plus, The Right Man to take this talented squad of players and turn them into a Team. Coz it ai'nt Timbo!

COYS!!

IMO you can't play Eriksen and a Carroll. Way too soft off the ball, and our problems like scoring from corners/set pieces will continue to be a joke.

Plus the last time I saw them play together, they had a bit of a bust up and Carroll was NOT happy.

Anyone who thinks that AVB or Tim have been "good" managers this season are deluding themselves. We scored 15 goals in 16 games under AVB and never beat a team above 11th. We were battered by three goals or more thrice and twice at home. We've been blown out twice under Sherwood and looked bad a fair few times. Neither can figure out that Naughton can't play left back. Both made dodgy loan moves (Holtby and BAE). Both have alienated some players and have questionable relationships with the dressing room. One had the team set up to be so rigid it could do nothing going forward and the other has the team lacking in shape.

There's been some factors outside their control like injuries, arguably poor summer transfers, and just neither having much time but you could count on one hand the game like we looked like we had a clue this season (Norwich, United, Stoke, Swansea, Newcastle). Neither ever showed any real inclination that they had the acumen to do anything at this club. Both are massively inexperienced.

The sooner that people just get over the AVB/Sherwood dichotomy and even Redknapp and just accept we'll have a new manager this summer it will all be for the better. The civil wars are damaging and pointless considering the two people you're arguing about aren't particularly good managers and won't be managing the team next season. Just accept that this season was a waste and get behind whoever is next. Lots of wasted energy and anger about AVB/Sherwood IMO. Water under the bridge.

In 1.5 seasons Avb's spurs beat man city at home. Beat United away (before they were shit) and drew twice at home, beat Woolwich at home, drew with Chelsea away and at home. Beat Liverpool at home and was two completely unaccountable for brain farts from a famous victory at anfield.

I think that's a decent enough record for any spurs manager against the top sides.

Don't be intentionally dense.

3-1-3-3 formations, high pressing, possession dominated team is a far cry from their team under Heyneckes. He's made them more ruthless, more adaptable and improved the playing staff to no end.

Using a single tie to diminish what he's done is a bit silly too.

Has already equalled Heyneckes trophy haul at Bayern as well.

I think you're underrating him here, he's top 3 currently and top 10 ever. With so, so much time left.

You think he's improved them - you have no way of actually knowing that, the german league is so weak now that their only test is the latter stages of the Champions League, where they were soundly beaten last season.

Anyway - back to David Brent:
