I seem to remember Guido 🇺🇦 Guido 🇺🇦 saying he used to sit near a number of Jews who seemed uncomfortable at the word and as a result he steered clear of joining the chants. Could be misremembering. I personally don't think it would hurt to ask the Jewish community their thoughts regularly. Every few years for example. Times do change as we know, and so do peoples sensitivities. My biggest concern is that our already slim songbook would become virtually non-existant!
Hi mate, yeah it was me. But it was a bit more nuanced than that (and here in lies the complexity) at old Lane the guy I sat next to was Jewish, a lovely fella and really enjoyed catching up with him each and every home game. One day I asked him his views on the word, in particular, whether he was offended with me singing it. He said he wasn't offended by me but was offended by the word. With this known how the hell could I ever sing it?! So from that day on I never once sang it.

However, then comes the complicated bit, he would often give his ticket to his brother and his nephew and to my utter amazement both would belt out all reference to Yids like I've never heard before, propper passionate. I got talking to them and asked them why, where both said White Hart Lane was the only place apart from their home and synagog where they could be overtly and openly Jewish without the fear of someone giving them an earful of antisemitic abuse.

For me, I will defer whether "yid" should be sung or not by what Jewish Spurs fans say. The way I see it is Spurs fans came together to support our Jewish fans who were regularly receiving antisemitic abuse, rather than look away we stood by them and declared ourselves as one and the same, Yids, the whole fanbase became Yids. So, if our fellow Jewish Spurs fans now feel it's time to not use the term Yids anymore then I'll do just that, whatever they say goes (I'm not Jewish so need to be told by Jews, not some jumped up reporter garnering clicks on the internet and for that matter for additional clarity not even Jews from other football clubs so Bediel can fucking do one).

The thing I love most is being a YID.

Glad I hadn't completely made it up. Nuanced is a very good description of the situation. A funny set of circumstances where the chap didn't like the word but apparently didn't mind you using it. For what it's worth I think you definitely did the right thing in giving up it's use. He may well have just been trying to avoid an uncomfortable matchday experience if he thought you might take offence at being lectured.

Do you ever use the term now at the new place?

When I say he was offended by the word he did make it clear there was a difference between how he felt when it was used by Spurs fans and those outside the ground, by that he didn't feel revolted or at all under threat but wished it wasn't used.

I have sung it at the new place yes but that is because those around me use it.

My situation is that I've not properly settled on a spot yet, I've changed seat which means I've not got to know anyone around me so haven't asked them the question and at my new seat the people around me are never the same, plus COVID shut out means I've just not been able to build any relationship with those around me.

That's a decent bench. I reckon a yoot will be on the bench but doubt Harvey will.
Berg in form and may be selected as a starter but more likely Lucas.

Moura is the more obvious starter, but his goals/assists stats are not good, maybe time for a change.

White on bench as IMO we were light on CM's on bench. Lok at list of those not in squad, and not too many obvious alternatives ? But agree he's not the obvious choice

What's he waiting for? Christmas? 😂

All Lucas' form is in the cups but will Conte start Berg in a home game?
Natives getting a bit restless about the guy
