I think this is an embarrassing result for the club tbh. It's a competition below the europa league we are probably the favourites in and we've been beat by an average Portuguese side.
The competition is a complete waste of time; if we win, it means next to nothing; if we lose, we’re overwhelmed with negativity. Better to work on the training field than play in this 10th grade shite.

Didn’t watch the game but Nuno has now been here nearly 2 months was there any evidence of his coaching methods / style of play? Whatever team is put should be adopting his methods. Surely we should have a 25 man squad good enough to compete in these games. Look at our rivals and they would be able to muster a good starting 11 which wasn’t based on their first 11/15 players? People slag off Aurier but his a far bette player than Doh! Tangay needs to come back in and given a chance to show what he can do. A lot of that starting 11 have had enough pre season to be up to speed. Nuno needs to get more out of them but im not liking his treatment of some players and whether he can motivate others.

Surely Tanguy had already been given enough chances to show what he can do

Not shown nearly enough

That is too simplistic a view.mason doesn’t count as the year thought winks could play Cm v citeh in LC final. Maureen started him in any games last season.
Remember the soton away game last season? If it wasn’t for ya gays bit of magic in the middle we wouldn’t have got back into the game.
heis surely still a better option than any of the 25 Nuno selected for this game!
To add Nuno has not even tried him yet in any system at least give him a go to show what he can do. We all know what winks can do bugger all yet he keeps getting players which he never takes the opportunity even though he wants to stay. You’d think he would have extra determination to do well!
Nuno sees him in training and maybe doesn’t trust him

Look at that childish strop he threw when Dier brought him down
Pathetic!

rest after the first match..
Most of these players tonight didn't play on Sunday, this can't have done the confidence of them any good, especially the new boys. I don't know a thing about Packs but this is probably their first team and used to playing together, whereas the same can't be said for our boys, . Cut them some slack, we've got more important games and competitions ahead:-( just my opinion!) COYS

There's no substitute for competitive games for me. These players should be showing they're worthy of being at the club and have something to offer and can play a part and be relied on this season. A few in this game get chance after chance and train day in and day out and have shown that they aren't even capable of turning up against "10th grade shite". What does that say about them.

I agree the players should show effort at the very least, but I just do t think this kind of competition does anything to bring players on. Better to send those with potential out on loan, like Skip last season where they can play for something that matters. This thing is a needless distraction.

Champions league prize money

Group stage $18m
$3.3M each win
$1.1m each draw

Next round $11.6m
1/4 final $12.8m
Semi $ 14.6m
Runner up $18.3m
Winner $ 23.2m

Ropey non league conference shambles.

€2.94m group stage
€500k per win
€650k of win group
€600k for round of 16
€1m 1/4 final
€2m semi final
€3m Runner up
€5m winner

So if we now win the next playoff game, all 6 group stage games, 2 Ro16 games, 2 quarter finals, 2 semi finals and a final, we'd get about as much as a team that has qualified for the group stages of the CL and not even played a game yet.

We absolutely MUST put this drain of resources to one side.
Play the same team next week. If we go out, so what.

why cant the game be used as training. the fringe players, reserves, kids should play. and on last night's showing we have a lot of work to do on the squad and youth teams.

Yeah, lets just bin everything...saving all that money spent on transfer fees and wages that is such a drain on our resources...dunno about you but I think the whole point of a football team is to play football...

rest after the first match..
They wouldnt be so tired that they couldnt play. They would still be fine to play all 3 games, but they wouldnt be at their peak in the 3rd one. And the wolves match is more important.

Plus nuno gets to see first hand just how shit winks, ccv, etc are against anyone decent and how he was right in letting doherty go in his previous job.

Indeed.... Players physical fitness is delicate in this early stage of the season.... You don't just rinse them straight out of the gate.... That's poor management.

Wish someone would tell the owners that

They seem to think the point of a football team is to build a property empire
