I'm sick to death of reading genuinely good posts with '2 x disagree' at the bottom, only to find it's the same old people just trolling each others posts (as fucking pathetic as that is) disagreeing without even reading what has been said. Simply disagreeing with the person in general, in order to restore some of their own ego as they received a neg rep.

Can a daily limit be set to prevent these unemployed mongoloids traipse the forum for their BFF's posts? It's annoying to see members make good points and then just have negatives at the bottom OF EVERY POST.

Or

The people doing it could just grow up.

No doubt some funny fuckers will 'disagree' with this post. Well, go ahead. I'll disagree with every post you've ever posted on here. I don't care if I have to quit my job, I'll get through them. That'll show you. And I will win.

Instead of removing the disagree button.....

How about every time you do a disagree it lowers your own reputation by 2 so there's a consequence to being lazy and not replying and just clicking X.

Eventually spammers will have neg rep and quite possibly they are the ones most bothered by forum ratings so will be a bit more frugal with their disagrees

Oh, I wasn't being serious. That was rhetorical nonsense on my part.

I just think that stripping away the rep system just because two or three people can't handle it is a misdiagnosis of the problem; they're the same people that can't go two weeks without spending a day or two in the bin. I really don't have a problem with someone ticking "disagree" for a post of mine. I'm a big boy and my feelings aren't going to get hurt if someone doesn't agree with me, and I really don't require an explanation either if they don't want to provide one. If that was all that was going on then I wouldn't have a problem, but it's not. This isn't about people disagreeing and failing to make up, it is about just a couple of people and one person in particular and their petty obsession to get one over on people, and it's spoiling the experience for everyone.

Hell, you and I have gotten into plenty of arguments, but we don't go around negging each other's posts just for good measure. Getting rid of the "dislike" button didn't fix anything, it just made the problem more cruelly mocking, and the board more patronizing in holding everyone to the standard of the lowest common denominator.

We could get rid of "disagree", but that's not going to solve the problem of this all simply resulting from a few shit-stirring drama queens.
If I post that woolwich are great and I get 1000 disagrees, I don't need an explanation, but in the Jennings thread (and I admit it made me laugh) Jayc1 said 'just saw a dog' and Arcy disagreed :dawsonlol:

I think the forum needs the disagree feature.

When I first started reading and someone would post something like, "Hey lads, my favorite color is blue," and I saw that someone disagreed with it, and that someone was ArcspacE, I knew right away that ArcspacE was probably a really vile bastard fuck, and I should look out for him.

Helps you get to know people.

If anything - this thread proves the people most bothered by ratings are the ones moaning about disagrees. People disagree with each other all the time - it's the nature of debate - what's the big fucking deal if a few emotionally immature, insecure, low self-esteem individuals can't deal with 'confrontation'? Imagine the shock they'll get in the real world when the Bank 'disagrees' to grant them that home loan - would they want the Bank closed down as well? If anything this is teaching them invaluable life lessons and they should be grateful as such

:townhmm:

Lol, that's hillarious!
And I think you protest a wee bit too much.

You're probably going to go on a disagree campaign against me now lol, but I can't help myself

Tee-hee-hee :)

Arcspace the unappreciated enlightened one....

From afar... within his Lego Zen Temple, perched upon the highest peak..... He shines like a beacon of reason and rationale, piercing the dimmest corners of this murkily lit TFC Forum....

No thread or poster... no matter how old or new, shall be able to resist his wisdom.

And that you have decided not to charge for these invaluable life lessons is truly humbling.

But in seriousness, to try to reason your points....

People disagree with each other all the time - it's the nature of debate

Well I think you provided your own counter point here... "debate" isn't hitting X

what's the big fucking deal if a few emotionally immature, insecure, low self-esteem individuals can't deal with 'confrontation'?

Well the counter argument... as it's sooooooooooooo unimportant.... what's the big fucking deal if it's removed?

Imagine the shock they'll get in the real world when the Bank 'disagrees' to grant them that home loan - would they want the Bank closed down as well? If anything this is teaching them invaluable life lessons and they should be grateful as such

Well that's really not a fair or true comparison.

A fair comparison would be walking into 10 banks.
Finding the same guy at each place and getting rejected at each place with no explanation while he sits there with a smug look on his face, doing his best impersonation of a bond villain.

I'd be up for removing disagree, it doesn't really add anything. It's not negative either tbf, it's a neutral rating so doesn't effect rep scores.

If it's not really adding anything to the board and some people are just using it to annoy other people then there is definitely an argument to say bin it.

Can't believe how petty and meaningless some people's lives must be to make such a big deal of 'internet rep'

:kaboullol:

But as Millbanks Millbanks says, its fucking annoying to see perfectly good comments with a 'disagree' next to them...even things like "it's great to beat the Scum" followed by a disagree, it looks we've got a load of Goons on the board...it's fucking embarrassing. In fact the only thing more embarrassing is your comment above about peoples lives being petty and meaningless when you are the main protagonist in this sad affair which is the very fucking pinnacle of pettiness!

There are a lot of people on who think you're a bit of a twat, I didn't see it myself, but every time I see an unwarranted disagree by someones post, because you just had to have your petty little dig, I come one step closer to agreeing with them.

this is about what happens online no ?

It causes more arguments then it does any good.

Largely because the immature morons start dislike "campaigns" against people. It really beggars belief that these people function socially in real life
